End User License Agreement
The licence terms for the Notoq Game Center desktop app. Version 1.0, effective 26 June 2026.
1. Subject matter
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a binding contract between you and Notoq, Inh. Julian Maschke, governing your use of the Notoq Game Center desktop application together with its components, updates and documentation (the "Software"). By installing or using the Software you accept this Agreement; if you do not agree, do not install or use it.
The Software is a desktop game hub for browsing, organising, launching and installing games you own across third-party platforms, with optional online features. It is currently distributed free of charge as a public Beta.
2. Licence grant
Notoq grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to install and use the Software on devices you own or control, for your private, non-commercial use, subject to this Agreement.
3. Beta software
The Software is pre-release Beta software. It may contain errors, change, be suspended or be discontinued at any time, and may not run reliably. Please keep your own backups of important data. Online services are provided on a best-effort basis without any guarantee of availability.
4. Restrictions
Except where mandatory law expressly permits (in particular §§ 69d, 69e UrhG), you agree not to:
• rent, sell, sublicense or otherwise distribute the Software;
• reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or modify the Software;
• remove proprietary notices or marks;
• use the Software unlawfully or to circumvent any service's technical protections;
• use the Software in breach of a connected platform's terms.
5. Third-party platforms & trademarks
The Software can connect to third-party services such as Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, EA, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox / Microsoft, Amazon Games and Riot Games. All names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. Notoq is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by them.
- Own accounts only: you may connect only accounts that belong to you, and remain bound by each provider's terms.
- At your own risk: some providers may restrict third-party clients; Notoq is not responsible for any consequence a provider imposes, including suspension of your account with them.
- No control: Notoq is not responsible for third-party services' availability, content, games or purchases.
6. Notoq account & online services
Some features need a free Notoq account (or Discord sign-in). These are additionally governed by the Notoq Terms of Service and, for optional paid features, the conditions and statutory right of withdrawal set out there. For the online services, the Terms of Service prevail in case of conflict.
7. Privacy
Notoq processes personal data under the Notoq Privacy Policy, in line with the GDPR. Credentials and tokens for connected platforms are stored encrypted. Cloud sync and social features are optional and only active once you sign in and enable them.
8. Automatic updates
The Software can download and install updates automatically (including the updater itself) to stay secure and current. By using the Software you consent to receiving these updates.
9. Intellectual property & open source
The Software and all rights in it (other than third-party components) belong to Notoq. It includes open-source components under their own licences, which prevail for those components; these are listed in the third-party notices below.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
As free Beta software, the Software is provided "as is" and "as available" to the extent permitted by law and without prejudice to the liability section. Notoq does not warrant that it is uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and gives no warranty for third-party services. Mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.
11. Limitation of liability
- Free of charge: as the Software is provided free, Notoq is liable only for intent and gross negligence (§§ 521, 523, 524 BGB).
- Exceptions: this limit does not apply to injury to life, body or health, to fraudulently concealed defects, to the German Product Liability Act, or where Notoq has given a guarantee.
- These limits also apply in favour of Notoq's representatives and vicarious agents.
12. Term & termination
This Agreement applies while you use the Software. You may end it at any time by uninstalling and deleting all copies. Notoq may end the licence on a material breach. The sections on third-party platforms, intellectual property, warranties, liability and governing law survive termination.
13. Changes
Notoq may amend this Agreement to reflect changes to the Software or for legal reasons. The current version ships with the Software and is published here. For material changes Notoq will make reasonable efforts to notify you. Continued use after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
14. Governing law & jurisdiction
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG); mandatory consumer protections of your country of residence are unaffected. For merchants and public-law entities, the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Düsseldorf. If a provision is or becomes invalid, the remaining provisions stay effective.
15. Third-party notices
Notoq is independent; all third-party names, logos and trademarks, including Valve / Steam, Epic Games, GOG / CD PROJEKT, EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft / Xbox, Amazon, Riot Games and Discord, belong to their respective owners.
The Software builds on open-source projects under their own licences, including Electron and Chromium, Node.js, React, Framer Motion (MIT), Lucide (ISC), qrcode, sql.js, steam-session and electron-updater (MIT). Install and import integrations may use external tools under their own licences: SteamCMD (Valve), Legendary and gogdl (GPL-3.0) and Ludusavi (MIT).
Game metadata and artwork originate from third-party sources and remain the property of their owners; they are shown for your personal use to identify and organise your own library.
